This January marks the 50th anniversary of the first publication of Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. After being flattened by a bulletin board, Stanley uses his altered form to its best advantage. One of the best parts is he can now be mailed to friends and family for visits!
Have you ever browsed through the bins in front of the Youth Reference desk? That’s where we keep all our new titles so patrons can have a peak at them before they move to the stacks. I thought it would be nice to highlight some of the titles that popped out at me as I was looking through a stack of new books. Be sure to take a look through the bins the next time you’re at the library!
Join us for our annual all ages chess event on Monday, January 20th, from 4:30pm - 7:45pm in Room 205 upstairs. Sign-in is at 4:30pm - please arrive no later than 4:45 so that pairings can be made based on age and/or expertise. Play will begin at 5pm & end by 7:45pm. Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult guardian. Please bring a clock if you would like to use one. There will be no entry fees as this is an unrated event & USCF membership is not required.
Our Winter Reading program has begun! Adults, teens, and kids need toregister online, read 3 books, and then write short reviews to win prizes. We'll also have some random drawings throughout the program for those who keep reading. The program runs January 2 - February 28. Here's a preview of some of the prizes - a goody bag for kids and a mug for teens and adults!
